The next meeting of Sinai Book Club will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 7:30 pm

The book selection is The SEPTEMBERS OF SHIRAZ by Dalia Sofer.

This is a hauntingly honest portrayal of the devastation wrought to families by the Islamic Revolution in Iran.  It seems to be semi-autobiographical, as the author's own family fled Iran to the U.S.

This novel shows how one family struggles to cope with the rise of the Revolutionary Guards forcing adherence to strict Muslim laws and condemnation of westernised life.
