Whether we go to an amazing concert, take in a magnificent vista or see the wonder in a child’s eyes, we can all think of an encounter that we would deem a spiritual experience. Often, we describe spiritual experiences as moving or inspirational. In addition to those descriptions, I would invite you to look at a spiritual experience as having an opportunity to take a glimpse of yourself, your light, your potential. To have a spiritual experience is to transcend the self-conscious walls we live with every day, to look outward and be moved to look inward. Spiritual experiences lead us to gratitude, a sense of connection and a feeling of peace.

There are many agents of spirituality that flow in and out of our lives and this weekend the Music Committee is excited to introduce you to one of them. Our Artist in Residence Billy Jonas is a gifted composer, performer and spiritual teacher. He helps children release their spirits through music, and invites adults to be in conversation with our liturgy, our God and ourselves in a gentle and compelling way. I personally look forward to singing with him, praying with him and learning from him.

Below is a list of his appearances. Come to one or all, you will be moved, you will be uplifted and you are sure to learn something about Judaism and more importantly, yourself.
