“Appoint for yourself a teacher, and you will acquire a friend.”
(Pirkei Avot 1:6)

Upon the recommendation of Temple Sinai’s Professional Relations Committee*, we are pleased and proud to share that the Board of Trustees has unanimously endorsed the promotion of Rabbi Brad Levenberg to the position of Senior Rabbi.  In accordance with Temple Sinai’s Bylaws, a congregational vote to ratify the Board’s decision will be held at this year’s Annual Meeting, after which Rabbi Levenberg will join Rabbi Segal as a Senior Rabbi charged with the leadership and oversight of Temple Sinai’s religious and spiritual life.

Rabbi Levenberg joined Temple Sinai’s clergy team in 2006, the same year that Rabbi Segal assumed the role of our congregation’s Senior Rabbi.  Having served our congregation with incredible distinction and dedication as Assistant and then Associate Rabbi for sixteen years this June, Rabbi Levenberg’s positive imprint and influence are manifest in every realm of Temple Sinai life.  His vision, creative spirit, and uncompromising devotion to the wellbeing of the congregation have undeniably contributed to the strength and character of our synagogue community.  Further, the remarkable relationship that Rabbis Levenberg and Segal enjoy makes this distinct leadership model possible at this particular moment in Temple Sinai’s history.

Appreciating that there may be questions concerning the specific implications of having two Senior Rabbis, we have included an FAQ together with this letter. Click here to read the FAQ.  Of course, should you have additional questions not addressed in the attached document, please reach out directly to either Adam Mayer or Rabbi Segal.

With shalom and enthusiasm for Temple Sinai’s continuing vitality and strength,

Adam Mayer, President and Rabbi Ron Segal
