Honoring Excellence

Rabbi Ron Segal

“God does not ask us to do extraordinary things. God asks us to do ordinary things extraordinarily well.”

This quote, slightly tweaked by Rabbi Sidney Greenberg, offers each of us an inspiring charge as we begin 2023, to enter this new calendar year with a determination to be our best, kindest, and most compassionate selves throughout the year ahead, to face each day committed to accomplishing whatever tasks lay before us with excellence.

This quote, however, also serves as an apt and fitting assessment of the manner in which Temple Sinai’s Executive Director, Jack Feldman, confronts the myriad responsibilities related to his professional leadership of our congregation.  Jack faithfully performs whatever duties are placed upon his desk with an unwavering commitment to excellence and with steadfast and extraordinary loyalty to the well-being and strength of our congregation. As well, though, Jack has brought his outstanding work ethic and unassailable loyalty to his leadership of NATA (National Association of Temple Administrators), where he has proudly and extraordinarily served as NATA President for the past three years and was the first recipient of NATA’s Mark Jacobson Leadership Award. It has been an undeniable source of pride for Temple Sinai that our Executive Director has served the greater Reform Movement in this national leadership position with such competence, dedication and excellence!

As Jack recently concluded his three-year tenure as NATA President, we are delighted to recognize and honor Jack during Shabbat services tomorrow evening, January 6. There will be a generous Kabbalat Panim (pre-service reception) at 5:45 PM, Shabbat services at 6:30 PM during which we will have a chance to recognize and celebrate Jack’s extraordinary leadership, and a lovely Oneg Shabbat in Jack’s honor immediately following services. We hope you will join us for this meaningful and special Shabbat evening.
