“Rabbi, I may not be a very religious person, but I am quite spiritual.”

Had I put a dollar in a tzedakah box every time someone said a version of these words to me over the years, I would be able to start a new spirituality endowment fund by now.  In all seriousness, for the spiritually inclined among us, this is your time at Temple Sinai!  After almost three years of discussing and exploring ways to enhance spiritual life at Temple Sinai, I am delighted to share that spirituality is going mainstream.  Of particular note is our congregation-wide program – Atop the Summit: Spirituality. Shavuot. Sinai -- taking place next Sunday, May 20.

Whether you are already involved in or committed to the pursuit of personal spiritual growth through study and embodied practices or not, next Sunday’s program provides a low barrier, engaging, and meanigful way to try something new at Temple Sinai.  Sunday afternoon will feature a variety of spirituality tracks (nature, chant, art, study, tai chi chih) that will also be mirrored in programming for our youth and parent demographic during the morning.  If you have yet to sign up, please go to this link - https://www.templesinaiatlanta.org/shavuot  - and do so now so that we can plan accordingly.  The afternoon’s true “summit” experience will be at 3:00 PM when we commemorate 50 years of Torah at Sinai with a powerful and moving service of celebration to be followed by a dessert reception.

A daily mindfulness meditation that I heard to this morning reminded listeners that true personal growth comes when we are willing to break out of the cocoon of familiarity and try something new.  As we celebrate Shavuot this year, our spirituality summit provides all of us an opportunity to nurture our spirits with something new and unique at Temple Sinai - a taste of mindful, spiritual enrichment.  I hope to see you “atop the summit.”
