Hineini: Gaining a New Perspective with Kyle and Gary Simon

Friday, January 22, 2021 9 Sh'vat 5781

7:25 PM - 7:45 PMwww.tinyurl.com/sinaiworship

Gather with the Hineini Committee IMMEDIATELY after Shabbat services (7:25 pm)  for 15 minutes as we learn from members of our congregation or figures in our community about what it is like to live with a disability or care for a loved one with a disability, today. We will ask important questions about  faith, inclusivity, the pandemic and more. We hope that by hearing from our community members we will all "gain a new perspective" and enter Shabbat with much to contemplate and ponder.

In this installment of Gaining a New Perspective we will hear from Kyle Simon and his father Dr. Gary Simon.
Kyle Simon hails from Atlanta, Georgia. He is 24 years old and was raised at Temple Sinai. Kyle has been an active member of the Jewish community his whole life.  Kyle currently works as a beekeeper and a honey salesman for a program called: Hives for Honey. Prior to beekeeping Kyle worked at the Marcus Jewish Community Center. During his free time he enjoys watching sports and hanging out with friends. He looks forward to sharing his story with the Temple Sinai Community.

Kyle will be joined by his father Gary Simon. Gary hails from New York. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Temple University and went into private practice in South Florida before he and his wife, Michelle, relocated to Atlanta in 1995, where he joined Resurgens Orthopedics, specializing in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Replacement surgeries. Gary has had the privilege to treat many professional and college athletes and has been the team physician for 10 different high schools, as well as a semi-professional hockey team.  He has also worked as one of the physicians taking care of Olympic athletes here in Atlanta in 1996. Together with Michelle, Gary has been very active and involved raising their 3 sons, Aaron (25), Kyle (24) and Michael (21). In his spare time, Gary enjoys regular exercise, is an avid reader and enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.  He is also an active member of Temple Sinai and is involved in many Jewish and civic activities.
