In this new, four-part mini-course, we’ll explore the intensely Jewish questions surrounding memory. What do we remember and why? How are national memories formed and preserved? In the first class, we will examine the many fascinating biblical origins surrounding the commandment of ZACHOR, to remember. In the remaining three classes, we’ll travel around the world focusing on the Spanish Inquisition and expulsion, the Holocaust in Eastern Europe, as well as the fundamental role memory has played in the foundation of modern day Israel. This final class on Israel will lead nicely into a spring-time Melton class on the different Jewish identities within Israel.

Please register online to attend. There is a cost of $40 for this Melton class and is only open to Temple Sinai members or guests.
