Chanukah 2020 - Be the Light

On Night Four, "Be the Light" and Give a Gift to Others

For the fourth night of Chanukah, instead of giving a traditional gift to a friend or loved one, consider making a donation to one or both of the below funds, which supports families in need throughout our community.  Upon submitting this form, you will receive a confirmation email, with a link to download a certificate that can be used in lieu of a gift.

Youth and Teen Program and Scholarship Special Fund financially assists in providing a Jewish education to all of our children. We never want finances to be a reason a child is unable to participate. Last year we provided nearly $50,000 in scholarships for children and teens to attend Preschool, Noar Sunday, Family and Hebrew programs, camps, youth group events and teen Israel trips. The demand is high and we know we will need to provide even more this coming year. Please consider contributing so that many of our children and teens can enjoy Jewish education experiences.

Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb partners with local congregations, individuals, families, foundations, and corporations to assist homeless families with children find permanent housing and help them achieve sustainable self-sufficiency.  Since 2012, Temple Sinai has been proud to partner with Family Promise by housing the families 3-4 weeks each year,  providing food and household items, hosting dinners, entertain the families, and staying overnight at the synagogue to ensure that the families are safe and have what they need as our guests. Although we have not hosted Family Promise guests on our campus since March, we continue to support the organization as they combat homelessness in our community.  Click here for more information.

You Also Have the Opportunity to "Be the Light" All Year Long!

We all feel good when we receive holiday and birthday cards or when our loved ones sing “Happy Birthday” to us as we blow out our candles. As many homeless individuals do not have loved ones to sing to them or to send them cards, let’s remind them how loved they are! We are asking for donations of the following: holiday cards and birthday cards (homemade or purchased, be sure to send a heartfelt message – we’ll take as many as you can make!), birthday candles, streamers, candles, cake mix and icing. Zaban Paradies Center celebrates birthdays all year long – let’s help them to celebrate! Bring your donation for drop-off to the Temple Sinai Chanukah Drive-Thru on Thursday, December 17.
