Summary
Dear {{first_name}},
There will be no Noar this Sunday, October 10th. We'll see you again on October 17th!
As we look ahead at the month, we want to share an important tzedakah (charitable giving) opportunity for Noar students and families. This year, Noar's tzedakah focus is economic justice. We are committed to helping combat economic injustice in education, housing, and food security.
This month, Temple Sinai is hosting families that are facing housing insecurity through the organization Family Promise. Family Promise supports houseless families with temporary housing, meals, and financial/job mentorship.
Each eidah (unit) is partnering with a community organization that supports economic justice. While housing security is the focus of Orim (Grades 4/5), we encourage all eidot(units) to volunteer for Family Promise over the next two weeks.
The Sinai Family Shelter (at Temple Sinai) will be hosting Family Promise October 10th - 24th and we will need help welcoming these families into our space. Here are ways you can provide tzedakah, through time or material donation:
Provide Dinner: Prepare or purchase dinner for the guests (drop off dinner by 5:30pm).
Overnight Hosts: Pack your pajamas, pillow, bedding and toothbrush! Stay overnight at Temple Sinai with our guests before starting your day to ensure that our guests have everything they need during the overnight (8:00pm-8:00am).
Help with Move-in/Move-out Days: Arrive on Sunday to either unload the belongings of our guests from the moving truck and set up the rooms for our uests and overnight hosts or load the belongings of the guests onto the moving truck and clean the rooms (Sundays, 1-2 hours).
Miscellaneous Supplies: Donate supplies needed for the upcoming host week. Items include but are not limited to gift cards, paper goods, dry goods, lunch foods and drinks. *Noar Students can also bring these on October 17th to Noar Sunday to donate.
Laundry: Pick up a bag of bed linens and towels at the end of the host week. Wash, dry, fold and return to Temple Sinai later that week.
If you're interested in volunteering, but aren't able to in October, Temple Sinai will be hosting Family Promise again December 19-26.
Mark your calendars for these youth group events you won't want to miss!
