Living Well on the Road

I am writing this having made the decision once again to skip the gym this morning. It’s not that I WANT to skip the gym; but sometimes life just gets in the way. I thought I would be able to accomplish more earlier in the week in order to prepare for the weekend but I found myself trading time for time: “I know I need to do X, but today my son needed more help with his homework, so X will have to wait until later this week.” “I know I started today thinking I could get to the store, but by the end of the day, little things just ate up my time and now I HAVE to get to the store.” Those little deals, extending the credit of time to ourselves, have a tendency to come back and haunt our best laid plans.

And, of course, the gym isn’t the only thing that suffers. Today is a bit tighter with appointments and so I will have to eat something quicker – and decidedly less healthy, both in content and portion size – than I had intended. And how many of us – myself included – have started the week intending to include Shabbat services for a spiritual outlet (because we feel so good having gone!) only to find that the credit of time does not extend to Friday night…and Friday night becomes that time to deal with other commitments or to just zone out.

It’s when I have weeks like this that I know I need Linden Schaffer. Linden is an author (Living Well on the Road), phenomenal speaker and a modern-day self-help guru. She found that balance and she’s not keeping her methods a secret. In fact, she’s willing to share her strategy, the tips that got her through the morass of “tomorrow I’ll do better,” with us this coming Sunday morning.

Linden will be at Sinai serving as our annual Alembik Speaker this Sunday, from 10:00-11:00 in the Freeman Family Chapel. There is no cost to attend this program… but there may be a cost to miss this program.

Give yourself the gift of a fresh start, the tactics to keep it going, and the strategies – no matter what your lifestyle – to live better, healthier, and with more happiness in your life.

See you Sunday morning.
