Keeping families together in the face of homelessness.

Prevention Shelter  Stabilization

Sinai Family Shelter is an affiliate of Family Promise North Fulton/Dekalb whose mission is to reduce the negative impact of sudden life-changing events that leave dedicated parents and their children without a home. Family Promise is a national interfaith, nonsectarian network that brings faith communities together to help families maintain housing, independence and dignity in a time of need with a three-pronged focus on prevention, shelter and stabilization.

When some families have life-changing events that others take for granted such as medical bills, car
repairs, loss of employment or childcare, they may become at greater risk of losing their homes, their family’s foundation. What does this mean for the children of these families? They sleep in hotel rooms with no privacy, with friends on floors and even in their cars. When this happens, these
children are more likely to drop out of school, repeat a grade, suffer from depression and even
attempt suicide.

During the first part of 2021, calls into the Family Promise North Fulton/Dekalb organization have
doubled from the previous year as 1 in 5 families in Fulton County are living below the poverty line.
The COVID crisis and related economic conditions are putting an enormous amount of families on the brink of homelessness right here in our local community. Family Promise North Fulton/Dekalb is the only family shelter in Sandy Springs and Sinai Family Shelter is proud to be a part of this organization and support community.

By opening our congregational home as a shelter several weeks out of the year, Sinai Family Shelter
exists to keep families together in the face of homelessness through prevention and stabilization
efforts in partnership with Family Promise of North Fulton/Dekalb.

Sinai Family Shelter is dedicated to Family Promise’s national mission to “Transform the lives of ONE MILLION children by 2030”.
