B'nei Mitzvah
The ceremony of the Bar or Bat Mitzvah symbolizes the religious commitment of young man or woman to Jewish life and is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen one's ties to the synagogue and the community. The decision to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah affirms a positive Jewish identity and marks a passage from the passive acceptance of a child to the active involvement of a young adult.
During services where a child becomes a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, our students lead prayers, offer their insights on Torah, and chants from the Torah and Haftarah in front of family, friends, and the congregation. Some services welcome a single Bar or Bat Mitzvah student into young adulthood in our community; many welcome two students. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend these meaningful worship services.
