Good Things Come in Threes with Rabbi Ron Segal

“If you want something stuck in someone’s head, put it in a sequence of three”  (Brian Clark). Due to its memorable brevity, the ‘Rule of Three’ is pervasive, informing fairy tales, nursery rhymes, comedy sketches, quotes, music lyrics, literary works… the list of examples is endless.  Interestingly, these three-item patterns are equally prevalent in Jewish text and tradition as well, though we might find what our Sages chose to group together in many instances to be surprising, intriguing, and even a bit baffling.  We’ll explore several examples and see if we might make some sense of rabbinic reasoning during this SML session.  I look forward to learning, sharing, and discussing with you then (see what I did there! 🙂)
