Sinai Family Shelter
The Sinai Family Shelter is a wonderful way for our Temple Sinai community to come together and directly impact the lives of others. Temple Sinai is one of many interfaith organizations that supports Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb and provides temporary room and board for families in transition.
Next Host Week October 30-November 6
Throughout the year, the Sinai Family Shelter hosts up to four families that are in need of housing and hospitality. Temple Sinai provides the facilities and our members volunteer their time by providing dinner, miscellaneous supplies, overnight hosting, Saturday day hosting, helping the families move in and move out, and laundry. Click here or the link below to see how you can assist.
Our Temple Sinai Circle for Immigrant & Refugee Justice committee, chaired by Jane Fishman & Leslie Walden, is working to assist recent refugees from Afghanistan who were forced to flee when the Taliban gained control of the country. Many of these refugees worked with our armed forces and tried to help bring a fair and stable government to their country.
Now they need our assistance to help rebuild their lives here in Atlanta. They have some immediate needs while they work to gain their own financial stability and independence. An Amazon wish list has been set up to help with their transition to a new life. Click hereto purchase items that will go directly to these families. Although the families are no longer in need of clothing, other items including a special request for vacuum cleaners are still needed. The delivery address is Afghan American Alliance, c/o H. Nassery, CEO, 126 Shadowmoor Dr, Decatur, GA 30030.
In the future we are going to need drivers who would be available to drive these families for Visa application appointments. The drives will probably take 2-3 hours and we will have an app for connecting us with live translators. We are working out all the details for this but if you wish to volunteer for this please send an email to Peter Savitz orLinda Richman.
Thank you so much for your help with this effort,
Peter Savitz and Linda Richman

Think About Climate Change When You Vote
As people of faith and conscience, our values call for us to be good stewards of the earth and ensure that everyone is cared for. Climate change is damaging our common home and putting future generations at risk.
The election this fall is asking: What values will shape our future? To learn how you can pledge to vote for protecting our globe – and encourage others as well, click here.
Did you know? Temple Sinai is an official "Community Buddy" of Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta!
What's that mean? We help feed food-insecure children. After getting the food from Backpack Buddies, we then pack it for each child, and deliver the packs to nearby schools where there are children who do not have enough to eat on the weekends.
Can you help? Absolutely! It is a great way to do some good in the community and spend time with fellow congregants. Please sign up to volunteer! If you have any questions. Please contact Co-Chairs, Alice Byrne and Susan Pepper.
It's our last call to donate to our Food Drive and we are so very close to our goal! Go to our Amazon Wish List here and make a donation today. Don’t forget to select Temple Sinai Atlanta in your Amazon Smile account!
