This past Sunday at Noar was a day celebrating and remembering--sticking to the Passover theme of slavery to freedom, students in Noar Jr. (Pre-K), Shoreshim (Grades K-1), Chaverim (Grades 2-3), and Orim (Grades 4-5) engaged in Passover stations including starting with the "Freedom Scramble" where they have to get across the room with a single piece of matzah on their head and shout out what freedom means to them when they make it across that finish line.

They rotated through stations like Passover Makerspace where they had to create a boat for Baby Moses out of recyclables, doing an "Exodus simulation" where students learned the cliff notes version of the Exodus story and then had to do an obstacle course where they worked together to cross the "Red Sea" (jump ropes and duct tape on the floor).

In some classrooms, the 10 plagues were hidden and the students had to find and name each using only clues that their teachers gave them. Of course, all students learned or re-told the Passover story in an age appropriate way--Pre-K through 3rd grade watched this video and discussed, and then played a matching game. Students in Orim (grades 4-5) played Passover Jeopardy to game-ify and re-iterate the story that they know.

Grades Pre-K-3 engaged in Passover themed Hebrew through Movement and learning about Passover in Israel with our Shinshin, Shahaf. All students learned the 4 Questions during T'filah.

Zehut (Grade 6) had a meaningful day with Ben Walker, the first ever educator at Temple Sinai and Holocaust Survivor, who presented his story with his famous light-hearted optimism and thought provoking questions to 6th graders, their parents, and some of their grandparents. We are so honored to have been able to do this workshop in person with multiple generations present.
