This week was a busy one at Noar Sunday! Students in Pre-K and Grades 2-6 participated in Yom Israel (Israel Day), where we celebrated by bringing Israel to Temple Sinai. Whether it was through building their own kibbutz, whipping up delicious Israeli salad, or making their own Dead Sea -- students had an incredible time experiencing Israeli culture!

Making the Dead Sea: With sand, salt, and water we experimented with just how much salt is needed to to make everything float!

Protect the flag! Our Shinshin (an Israeli young adult who has been working with Noar students this year), Shahaf, taught us common Israeli kids' games. Of course, we couldn't help but play a little capture the flag!

It smelled just like a shuk as students made Israeli salad with tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. Check out their incredible knife skills!

Students got together to imagine and build their own kibbutz. We talked about what services and buildings are important to have in a community -- and some groups got a little creative brainstorming restaurants like "Food Dude" and pottery shops "Spot Pot".

Building a relationship and understanding of Israel is an important part of Jewish education at Noar and we loved being able to celebrate a little bit of the geography, food, and culture of Israeli Jews.

We can't wait for our final session of Noar next week -- get ready for Color War!!!!
