Carpool Talk goes out to you via Remind every Noar Sunday at 11:30am. Each Carpool Talk newsletter has a brief description of what your child did today, along with 2-3 open ended questions you can ask them to keep the conversation going.

All Eidot (units) started the day with Boker Kehilah (morning meeting) and then met in the Sanctuary for a T'filah (prayer). Students explored more int their Bayit (home base) classes.

Big picture

SHORESHIM (PRE-K-KINDERGARTEN)

This week in Bayit, we learned about the synagogue. In Chugim, our students rotated between a game about Kavod, Hebrew Through Movement, and art. Ask me:

1. How do you feel when you go into the Sanctuary?

2. What are some objects you see at Temple Sinai?

3. What is Kavod, and how did you use it to make rules for the class?

SHORESHIM (GRADE 1)

At this point in the year, First grade begins working with more scaffolded topics than Pre-K and Kindergarten.

This week in Bayit, we learned about Gemilut Chasidim (acts of loving kindness) and multiculturalism among Jewish Americans. In Chugim, our students rotated between an activity in which they created a multicultural recipe, Hebrew Through Movement, and making birthday cards for older Atlantans.

*Remember, at Noar we focus on the PROCESS, not the product, of learning. Each student's answer will vary. This is to show what they are walking away with, not necessarily the script of the teacher.

1. How do you define culture of Jewish Americans?

2. How do you explain “Gemilut Chasidim”?

3. Why was making birthday cards for the elderly an example of Gemilut Chasidim?

CHAVERIM (GRADES 2-3)

This week in Bayit, we learned about the Tower of Babel through acting out the story, building a tower, and practicing the art of communication. Ask me:

1. What is the story of the Tower of Babel?

2. How can we celebrate our differences in communication?

3. Why is communication important?

ORIM (GRADES 4-5)

This week in Bayit, we learned about spirituality and “kavod” respect through a spirituality scavenger hunt, thinking about our “Mensch Movie” and starting our Parking Lot spirituality project. Ask me:

  1. What project are you starting?

2. How can you find spirituality in spaces not deemed spiritual?

3. What did you learn about yourself this week? What mensch actions did you take?

ZEHUT (GRADE 6)

This week in Bayit, we worked through Moving Traditions “Simcha” Workshop and sorted out our feelings around being B’nei Mitzvah. Ask me:

1. Why do you think “Simcha” or celebrations, are a core value to the Jewish community?

2. What are some parts of your b’nei mitzvah that might bring you joy?
