WELCOME BACK TO CARPOOL TALK!

Carpool Talk goes out to you via Remind every Noar Sunday at 11:30am. Each Carpool Talk newsletter has a brief description of what your child did today, along with 2-3 open ended questions you can ask them to keep the conversation going.

All Eidot (units) started the day with Boker Kehilah (morning meeting) and then met in the Sanctuary for a T'filah (prayer). Students explored more int their Bayit (home base) classes.

Jewish Life vocab of the week: Kol HaKavod

Chaverim (2-3), Orim (4-5) and Zehut (6) continued their fall chugim (electives) today. Orim (4-5) had Family T'filah this morning.

All Eidot (units) are participating in different tzedakah (charitable giving) projects. You are welcome to donate some change each Sunday or bring in a canned good.

Big picture

SHORESHIM (PRE-K-KINDERGARTEN)

This week in Bayit, we learned about giving and doing tzedakah. We made birthday cards for older adults who might be lonely on their birthdays. In Chugim, our students debated and discussed ways to be active in tzedakah projects, and participated in Hebrew Through Movement. Ask me:

1. What does tzedakah mean to you?

2. Aside from giving money, how can we “do” tzedakah?

3.Why is making birthday cards for older adults considered tzedakah?

SHORESHIM (GRADE 1)

At this point in the year, First grade begins working with more scaffolded topics than Pre-K and Kindergarten.

This week in Bayit, we learned about creation and Adam and Eve as God’s helpers. In Chugim, our students rotated between creation yoga, Hebrew Through Movement, and an activity that explains how we need to do things differently to be inclusive.

*Remember, at Noar we focus on the PROCESS, not the product, of learning. Each student's answer will vary. This is to show what they are walking away with, not necessarily the script of the teacher.

1. Which is your favorite day of creation?

2. Can you name some of God’s helpers?

3. What kinds of things do you think God wants us to do?

CHAVERIM (GRADES 2-3)

This week in Bayit, we learned about Shalom Bayit through acting out the Abraham and Sarah story and engaging in different Shalom Bayit activities. Ask me:

1. What is the story of Abraham and Sarah?

2. How did Abraham and Sarah show the value of “Shalom Bayit,” peace in the home?

3. What are some ways you can make sure we have peace in the home, or your bear can?

ORIM (GRADES 4-5)

This week in Bayit, we learned about God’s different names and B’tzelem Elohim through a series of building muscles! Ask me:

1. How do you know you are “B’tzelem Elohim,” created in God’s image?

2. How did you take stock and build self-respect muscles today?

3. How can you make incorporate God’s different names in your project?

ZEHUT (GRADE 6)

This week in Bayit, we worked through a Moving Traditions workshop called “Celebrate” where we planned mock B’nei Mitzvah celebrations with different budgets. Ask me:

1. How do you think the choices you make around your B’nei Mitzvah reflect your own values? Your family values?

2. How can you empathize with families who have different circumstances than you?

3. What kind of celebration do you want?

There is NO 6th grade Noar next week (Nov. 6). The 6th grade community building trip is taking place that weekend.
