Volunteering either through Sinai or at Sinai is a great way to meet other people and do a good deed at the same time. As we approach the High Holy Days and a new year, the opportunities listed below will allow you to make a big impact in the greater community (through Social Action Programs) and a big impact at Temple Sinai (through Sinai Volunteer Opportunities). High Holy Days Food Drive: Click-A-Mitzvah 2023 Whether by the click of a button on Amazon or bringing your food and toiletry donations to Temple Sinai on Yom Kippur, help make a difference in our greater community by donating to the Community Assistance Center of Sandy Springs.
Sinai 20s & 30s Mitzvah Day - Sunday, September 10 Join other 20s & 30s at Sinai for a Mitzvah Day project! We'll be partnering with JF&CS to prepare Rosh Hashanah meals for the residents & staff of nearby assisted living communities in the Temple Sinai kitchen from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm before heading over to Scofflaw Brewing at 4:00 pm for a happy hour for all of the young adults who participated in Mitzvah Day projects across the city. This event is FREE and anyone is welcome, so bring friends!
Sinai Family Shelter Host Week - Sunday, October 1 through Sunday, October 8 Come together and directly impact the lives of others through our Sinai Family Shelter! We are one of many interfaith organizations that support Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb and offer temporary room and board for families experiencing homelessness. Temple Sinai provides the facilities but we need your assistance providing dinner, miscellaneous supplies, overnight hosting, Saturday day hosting, helping the families move in and move out, and laundry.
Backpack Buddies is Back! Support kids in the metro Atlanta community by helping pack backpacks with food semi-monthly at Sinai! This initiative helps school-aged children who might not have food at home stay fed over the weekends. Click here to sign up and help starting Tuesday, August 29!
CAC Food Pantry & Thrift Store - 3rd Saturday of Each Month The Community Assistance Center (CAC) has a "Client Choice" Food Pantry and Thrift Store that we staff monthly. Please share a few hours of your time checking in clients, sorting and stocking foods & clothing, assisting with food & goods selections, bagging items, and ringing up clients orders.
Environmental Awareness & Action Conversations (EAAC) Meeting - Tuesday, August 23, 7:00 pm (ZOOM) Come learn about our environmental initiatives for 5784. Please note this event is virtual only.
Reverse Tashlich - Sunday, September 17, 2:00 pm We are excited to join other Atlanta-area congregations this year to participate in the 6th annual global Reverse Tashlich experience. Sponsored by Tikkun haYam (Repair the Sea) and in partnership with Chattahoochee River Keepers, Reverse Tashlich is an innovative practice in which, rather than casting away sins, participants gather to remove harmful plastic and marine debris pollutants from local streams and rivers. Note that participation will involve wading in the water as well as the lifting of wet, trash-laden bags. Youth ages 10-16 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited spots available. .
NOAR Opening Day - Sunday, August 27 We are looking for a few folks to help make Noar Opening Day great! We’re hosting breakfast for families and seeking support with setting up and breaking down. Shammashim It takes over 200 Shammashim (Ushers) to ensure all of our High Holy Day Services run smoothly and safely. Click herefor the schedule and to select how you wish to volunteer.
