We are looking forward to a great semester full of fun, special programs, great learning and MORE! We are also looking forward to sending out the class directories so you can reach out to your Noar friends. Please email Rachel at rmoldovan@templesinaiatlanta.org if you do not want your information shared in the class directory.

Each Carpool Talk newsletter has a brief description of what your child did today, along with 2-3 open ended questions you can ask them to keep the conversation going.

All Eidot (units) started the day with Boker Kehilah (morning meeting) to learn about the Middah of the week and break the ice!

Hebrew letter of the week: Hey (*it may be different for Shoreshim (Pre-K-1)

Jewish Life vocab of the week: Ruach (spirit)

Mensch Middah of the week: HaKarat HaTov (Gratitude)

Shoreshim (Pre-K-1)

This week in Bayit, we learned about Shabbat through a book discussion on “The Shabbat Box” and by making Shabbat boxes and challah covers. Next week, we will make kiddush cups and candlesticks. In Chugim, our students rotated between a Library with Ms. Jamah andHebrew Through Movement with Or. Ask me these three things:

1. Why do we celebrate Shabbat?

2. What are some things we need to have on our Shabbat table?

3.What did you make today that we can use for Shabbat?

Ms. Jamah was back for Sunday Storytime! This week, Shoreshim learned all about Shabbat. We started with a book illustrated in black and white, which looked like it might be a little boring, but Ms. Jamah assured us that we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! By the end of the story, we had set a whole cozy Shabbat table, just like Mrs. Moscowitz in the book.

Chaverim (Grades 2-3)

This week in Bayit, we learned about Bar/Bat Mitzvahs through our very own “Bear Mitzvah” for our stuffed animals. We celebrated a “bear mitzvah” (or fox, or frog, or squishmallow!) today with Rabbi Ron. Chaverim learned all about the importance of a mitzvah ceremony and the responsibility of performing mitzvot that comes with it. They even got a sneak peek of what it feels like to be called up to the bimah!

1. What happens during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah?

2. What are some ritual objects used during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah?

3. What word do you bend your knees on during the blessings?

Students also chose their chugim (electives) for the semester between Shira (singing), MakerSpace, Art, or Sports!

 Orim (Grades 4-5)

This week in Bayit, we learned about Jewish mysticism through legends, history, and so much more! We also began our Passover chug (electives) today. Ask me these three things:

1. What Jewish mysticism did you learn about today?

2. What is Tzfat and why is it interesting?

3. What are some values you talked about?

See below for pictures from our first chug (elective) class!

Zehut (Grade 6)

6th grade visited the Breman Museum with their parents for a meaningful tour of the Museum. Next week, students will hear from their own teacher, Emily, about her grandfather's story in the Holocaust.
